Spay/Neuter, Inc.'s Adoption Process

An adoption application is required in order to adopt from us. If your application is approved, you will be required to sign an adoption contract. Our cats/kittens CANNOT be declawed.

1. Meet the Pet

Visit our cats at the Waynesboro, VA PetSmart. If you are not local and can't visit our PetSmart cats, please submit an application first.

2. Submit Application

You can complete an application on Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder, this website, email us to request a copy, or complete one at PetSmart.

3. Approve Application

If we have questions or approve your application, we will contact you. We will set up a time to adopt if approved.

4. Sign the Adoption Contract

You will sign an adoption contract at the time of adoption. Adoption will take place in the PetSmart Luv-a-Pet center in Waynesboro, VA or occasionally in the home of our foster families.

5. Pay the Adoption Fee

Our adoption fee for all our cats and kittens is $100. In special cases, adoption fees may be waived.

6. Take the Pet Home

You will receive medical records, copies of the adoption paperwork, and a selection of coupons for your new family member.

Additional adoption info

Our kittens are spayed/neutered before adoption by utilizing early age spay/neuter. Tested for FeLv/FIV/HW, receive all vaccines, dewormed, and defleaed.

Adoption Fees

The adoption fee specified helps offset the cost of the following: Combo testing for FeLV/FIV/HW (feline leukemia, feline aids, heartworm), spay/neutering, rabies vaccination, parasite treatments if needed. And any additional medical care/treatment is performed as needed before adoption. It also helps us assist with food and litter for cats being fostered.
