About Louise--Courtesy L

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: Louise
  • Housetrained: Yes
This sweet little dog has had a complicated life, which she has lived thus far with dignity, determination, forgiveness, and loyalty. We do not know how old she is but her known history started about 6 years ago when a great lady picked her up from an animal shelter.

She was taken home where Louise's job was to comfort and give companionship to a couple suffering through the pain of the husband's fatal illness. She endured some teasing from a wonderful man who was no longer thinking in the rational ways he used to. After his passing, she protected her mistress with courage and brought comfort with her great personality.

The next chapter in her life began when the widow could no longer keep Louise and she came to live with my family and me while we searched for a new home for her. She has been with us much longer than we expected and we wish we could keep her ourselves but, as we board dogs in our home for income, we cannot have another of our own.

Earlier this year, despite the fact that she had had great veterinary care and a dental cleaning in May of 2004, she was found to have a condition in her mouth that caused the majority of her teeth to die and have to be removed--36 teeth to be exact, minus the two she had already had pulled the year before and she is left with a grand total of 4! She is doing GREAT and is even eating dry food. Her cute face has not changed either. This is not a handicap in any way.

Louise gets along great with other dogs, cats, and ferrets (really!). She is okay with kids but prefers adults, especially women. She barks when she feels the need to alert us to someone at the door but is otherwise pretty quiet. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car but does not demand either one. She is reliably housebroken. She is only 37 pounds with a long white and tan coat (she has her spring haircut in the picture). Please take note of her great "flying nun" ears!

Contact Katy Kildea @434-985-6676 or e-mail katykildea@juno.com ASAP if you are interested in Louise or know someone who might be. We want Louise to have the home that she deserves.

If you're interested in adopting me, please email spayneuterinc@yahoo.com .  Some of us can be seen at the Waynesboro PetSmart Luv-a-Pet Center.

Spay/Neuter, Inc. is a small 501C3 nonprofit animal rescue organization.  They are an all-volunteer organization and are not in rescue to make money.  My adoption fee helps with the next animal rescued that may have medical problems that need to be addressed.

Please consider sponsoring me until I'm adopted, or send a one time donation to help. No donation is too small and every donation is appreciated.  Thank you.
